Eric J. Little is an Atlanta-based actor, director, educator, and writer. He has a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education (Language Arts) from Alabama A&M University and a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from Louisiana State University. Eric is a proud member of Actors Equity Association, the union for professional theater actors and stage managers and he has acted on professional stages across Atlanta, as well as in New York, Louisiana, and North Carolina.
Some of his theater work in acting includes: “Gee’s Bend,” “Fly,” “A Lesson Before Dying,” (Theatrical Outfit); “Superior Donuts,” “Third Country,” (Horizon Theatre); “Miss Evers’ Boys,” “Our Town,” “Broke-ology,” (Kenny Leon’s True Colors Theater Company); “Clybourne Park,” (Aurora Theatre); “TopDog/Underdog” (North Carolina Black Repertory Company). Some of his theater work in directing includes “Fetch Clay, Make Man,” “Between Riverside and Crazy,” (Kenny Leon’s True Colors Theater Company); “Thurgood,” “Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill,” (Theatrical Outfit); “The Mountaintop,” (Aurora Theatre); “We Are Proud to Present…” (Theater Emory); “Run No More,”-Stage Reading (North Carolina Black Rep), “Confessions of Hitman”-Reiser Lab Stage Reading (Alliance Theatre); “The Brothers Size,” (Actor’s Express). Some of his Film/TV work as an actor includes “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne,” “Necessary Roughness,” “The Clubhouse”, “The Know Better Effect,” “Hamlet’s Ghost,” “Lottery Ticket,” the lead in two short films “Perfect Day” and “A Beautiful Death,” and various commercials. Eric had the privilege of traveling to the 2012 Cannes Film Festival in France, where he was a part of the Creative Mind in Cannes Program. He was the lead in two short films that won second and third prizes in the competition.
Previous education work includes working at Riverdale High School where he taught English and drama, and co-wrote, and directed a musical “Love and Freedom.” At Riverdale, he was also awarded “Teacher of the Month.” Eric worked as an Imaginator (Performer/Educator) at The Children’s Museum of Atlanta. At the museum, he performed, wrote, choreographed, and directed plays there. Eric was also the drama director for Heard Home School Academy, where he wrote and directed plays.
Current education work: Eric is a tenured tracked professor and the Theater Coordinator at Clark Atlanta University. He has been at CAU for eleven years and has just directed his milestone tenth production there. Some of those plays include: “for black boys…,” Before it Hits Home,” “The Brothers Size,” “God’s Trombones,” and “Macbeth.”
Other work and affiliations: Eric has been a Georgia Lottery Host for four years with WSB-TV (Atlanta). Eric is a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church (Atlanta). At EBC, Eric served as the Director of the EBC Players Drama Ministry for five years. Currently at EBC, he is the leader of the S.A.L.T. (Single Adults Living in Truth) Ministry as well as the host of EBC News that broadcasts to a membership of over 15,000 spread across five campuses.
Eric’s been nominated for Eight Suzi Awards (the professional theatre awards in Atlanta), and the winner of three –2011 Suzi Award Winner Lead Actor for “Superior Donuts”– Horizon Theatre Company; 2013 Suzi Award Winner- Best Ensemble- “Fly,”-Theatrical Outfit; 2015 Suzi Award Winner- Best Ensemble- “Clybourne Park,”– Aurora Theatre.
Eric has also been recognized as one of the “25 Rising Stars” by Atlanta Tribune Magazine, called “The Talent to Watch” by Creative Loafing, and awarded “Best Supporting Actor” by The Sunday Paper. He has been privileged to work with Kenny Leon, Jasmine Guy, TC Carson, Mo’Nique, James Pickens, Jr. and Samuel L. Jackson.
Eric wrote and performed his one man play- “Beautiful Feet,” directed by Thomas W. Jones II at the 2016 Atlanta Black Theater Festival and recently at The Good Acting Studio and plans to remount it again soon.
Eric is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. for over twenty-one years (Delta Gamma Chapter-Alabama A & M University).
