SO, EXACTLY HOW DID YOU MEET?
Tim and I attended the same HBCU… the prestigious, Morris Brown College in Atlanta, GA. Ironically, we never met despite our huge circle of mutual friends. Finally, fate stepped in, and our worlds collided briefly… almost, twenty something years later at homecoming on October 12, 2019. When I saw Tim across the yard it wasn’t exactly love at first sight… I was too busy socializing with my classmates when I spotted his t-shirt that read “I AM MORRIS BROWN.” In hindsight, I recalled that Tim wasn’t too bad on the eyes either as my beloved Granny would say. I approached him in casual conversation and asked “Where did you get your T-shirt from? I like that!” Tim instantly replied “I made it! It’s my own brand!” At that moment, hello turned into a quick goodbye when my BFF Temeka pulled me away to catch up with some more of our friends on the yard. Within a few days, to my surprise, I received a friend request from Tim on Facebook. I sent him a message and ordered my T-shirt; but that’s clearly not how the story ends. We started dating and courting two years later. Our first date took place on Valentine’s Day – 2/14/21.
HOW DID YOU KNOW THIS WAS GOING TO BE THE PERSON THAT YOU WOULD MARRY?
After continuous prayer and confirmation from God. The day before I invited Tim to my house for the first time; I prayed and asked God to send me a sign. I even asked God to not let me develop feelings for this man if he was not the one or apart of His Will for me. God sent me exactly three signs… the final sign was two love birds sitting on my wreath that was placed at the front door. I also had a feeling of piece that surpassed all understanding that Tim was “The One.”
DESCRIBE THE PROPOSAL?
Tim asked my parents for my hand in marriage one month prior to popping the big question after Spring Revival Service. I later found out Tim went to great lengths to ensure that the ring he selected was fit for me. He showed the ring to my best friend and sister girlfriends for approval; and swore them to secrecy. Originally, Tim had planned a surprise proposal with our closest friends from college at a local area restaurant. However, he later decided that proposing on our anniversary (The 14th) with “Just the two of us”; would be more memorable! Driving over an hour and maneuvering through rush hour traffic; Tim sealed the deal by proposing to me on our 10-month anniversary of dating/courtship on October 14, 2021 at my house. I was completely and utterly surprised!!! With my hair undone, no makeup, wearing a nightshirt and covered partially in blanket – I yelled, screamed and cried “YAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS”! My beloved fur baby, Ramsey Lee was present and barkingly, approved!!! Oh and that dinner with friends turned into our engagement party!
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN MARRIED?
1 year, 7 months
How do you Balance Work, Home and Fun Times?
Each week, we take turns planning a date night. This is something we did during our courtship that we vowed to continue once married. Date nights are essential for us! They do not always involve going out! After the birth of our son, we continued date nights at home and even had family date nights once our son was older. I work from home which has allowed me to spend more time with our son. When my husband comes home, he gives me a break and picks up the parenting and household chores and duties that I may not have been able to complete.
