Netflix’s hottest new series, Archive 81, has HBCU connections. Alabama State University alums, Charlie Hudson, III and Africa Miranda are supporting cast members.
The former drum major and Miss ASU, respectively, play the parents of the main character. Hudson said the genre-bending series is difficult to classify: “It’s drama, suspense, horror, everything wrapped up in one.” He appears in six of the eight season one episodes.
According to Hudson’s Facebook profile, the Montgomery native, studied theater at ASU and graduated with a bachelor’s degree. He went on to study at Brown University, earning a master’s degree in acting. He has worked with theater groups such as Trinity Repertory Company in Rhode Island, Baltimore Center Stage in Maryland, Portland Stage in Maine and the Sheen Center for Thought & Culture in New York. Some of his TV appearances include “The Night Of,” “Manifest,” “Shades of Blue” and “The Good Fight,” according to IMDB.
Netflix’s version of Archive 81 is an original story, loosely inspired by the popular podcast of the same name.
