SO, EXACTLY HOW DID YOU MEET?
We met through a mutual friend who was in one of our classes and we were introduced after a football game at the student union in 1966.
HOW DID YOU KNOW THIS WAS GOING TO BE THE PERSON THAT YOU WOULD MARRY?
We realized we would be good life partners. Through out our matriculation we motivated one another (he helped me get out of chemistry and I helped him with his humanities course). We supported one another through our pledge processes, and our relationship survived the distance when Perry graduated early and started his career in Indiana.
DESCRIBE THE PROPOSAL?
I was under the impression that we were going on a casual shopping trip to pick up an ironing board. As we walked around the plaza Perry suggested we walk into a jewelry store and then asked me to pick the ring I Iiked…after picking the ring he then asked me to marry him in the jewelry store. We married August 15,1970.
HOW DO YOU CHOOSE WHICH HOMECOMING YOU ATTEND EACH YEAR? (Ignore if you attended same School).
Homecoming is a family affair for us. Although our daughter chose to attend Clark Atlanta University or son attended Southern University as well.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN MARRIED?
54 years
How do you Balance Work, Home and Fun Times?
We are both retired now with 3 grandchildren so after working in education for over 40 years and Perry in the automotive industry 41 years we now enjoy finding new adventures to make memories with our family. We are both active in our organizations (Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.)
