A Southern girl through and through, Khadijah was raised in Savannah, GA and Montgomery, AL. Khadijah grew up in a household focused on culture and awareness, and whether it was playing mancala games or going through a Rights of Passage program, her parents never let her lose sight of the richness of her Blackness. It was her passion for supporting Black-owned businesses in all aspects of her life that gave her the idea for Nile. After graduating from Spelman College with a Bachelor of Arts in English, Khadijah received a MSc from the University College London and a J.D. from Harvard Law School. She has practiced law in Washington, D.C. at a corporate law firm for the last four years, but she has supported the business endeavors of the Black community for her entire life. Nile was born from Khadijah’s own personal experience of the frustrations of attempting to support Black-owned businesses when shopping online. The process involved too much research, time, and often wasted effort. She created Nile as a way to solve her own problem, and to help the internet generation access thousands of amazing products from thousands of amazing Black-owned businesses that haven’t been brought together in this way anywhere else on the internet.
