WHAT HBCU YOU ATTEND?

Florida A & M University

WHAT MADE YOU ATTEND THAT HBCU?

So, picture this: I started my college journey at a school close to home because life threw a curveball – my dad got hit with cancer. Family first, right? But here’s the kicker: once he got the “all clear,” and my advisor had the audacity to tell me I wasn’t smart enough to get into Pharmacy School . Can you believe that?

Now, you see, I’m enthusiastic about proving people wrong. I’ve got brains, determination, and a down-to-earth vibe that’s hard to ignore. Enter Florida A&M University, my HBCU. It’s not just a school; it’s a vibe, a community, a place that celebrates excellence and refuses to let anyone dim their shine.

I chose FAMU because it’s not just about education; it’s about proving to myself and the world that I am more than capable. It’s about being surrounded by like-minded individuals who get that life isn’t a straight line but a wild ride full of unexpected twists.

Sure, I’m well-educated – that’s a given. But I’m also relatable, grounded, and ready to show the world that being told you’re not smart enough is just the starting point for proving them dead wrong.

FAMU, welcomed me with open arms and equipped me with the knowledge and skills necessary to conquer any obstacles that were thrown my way . I was ready to thrive, and ready to show the world that you should never underestimate someone with a dream and a dash of determination.

WHAT DID YOU LEARN DURING YOUR TIME A YOUR COLLEGE?

First off, let me hit you with some warm vibes and a dash of inspiration. My time at college, especially at the incredible Florida A&M University, was nothing short of a rollercoaster of learning, growth, and a few plot twists.

Picture this: I kick-started this journey close to home because life threw me a curveball – Dad facing off with cancer. Family took the front seat, obviously. But once he got the “all clear,” someone somewhere thought it was a good idea to tell me I wasn’t smart enough. Challenge accepted.

Fast forward to FAMU, my HBCU love. It’s not just a school; it’s a vibe, a community, a place that celebrates excellence and throws shade at doubt. What did I learn? Oh, where do I even begin?

Lesson one: Resilience is your BFF. Life might throw lemons, rocks, or a whole garden at you, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make some killer lemonade.

Lesson two: Embrace the unexpected. Life’s not a straight line, it’s a masterpiece of zigzags and loop-de-loops. And you know what? It’s more thrilling that way.

Lesson three: Surround yourself with brilliance. FAMU is like a hub of shining stars. Being in a community that elevates everyone is a game-changer. Iron sharpens iron, right?

And lesson four: Never let anyone else write your story. Someone once thought I wasn’t smart enough. FAMU and I had a good laugh about that. Turns out, I’m not just smart; I’m FAMU smart – a whole different level.

So, what did I learn during my college stint? Life’s an adventure, and every stumble is just a funky dance move waiting to happen. FAMU, you’ve taught me resilience, the beauty of unpredictability, the power of community, and that the best stories are the ones you write for yourself.

WHAT DID YOU TAKE WITH YOU WHEN YOU LEFT THE COLLEGE?

When I strolled across that stage at Florida A&M University, I wasn’t just walking away with a diploma – I was stepping into a future armed with a backpack full of dreams, lessons, and a whole lot of inspiration.

First off, let’s talk about the wisdom I gathered. It’s not just about the textbooks and lectures; it’s the kind of knowledge that comes from late-night study sessions, challenging exams, and navigating the maze of campus life. Each class, each challenge, was a step closer to becoming the person I aspired to be.

Then there’s the resilience I developed. College was a series of peaks and valleys, but those valleys? They taught me to climb, to push through, and to keep my eyes on the mountaintop. The setbacks weren’t roadblocks; they were detours leading to unexpected opportunities.

Oh, and the friendships – they’re the hidden treasures. The connections made during those university years are like gold. They’re the ones who shared the victories, pulled all-nighters with me, and believed in me when I had doubts.

And you can’t forget the dreams. Graduating isn’t the end; it’s the beginning of chasing those dreams with newfound vigor. FAMU instilled in me the belief that dreams aren’t just aspirations; they’re achievable goals waiting to be conquered.

So, what did I take with me from FAMU? A diploma, a mind brimming with knowledge, a heart filled with resilience, friendships that are priceless, and a suitcase full of dreams waiting to unfold. And to anyone reading this, I say, your dreams are valid, and the journey is worth every step. Let’s turn those dreams into reality!

WHAT IS YOUR INSPIRATION?

Let’s chat about my inspiration what gets my engine running – the fuel behind the scenes. My journey has this rich tapestry woven with threads of family, personal grit, and a dash of rebellion against those who love to set limits.

My family!! They’re the heartbeat of it all. Every late-night study grind, every weekend sacrificed for books – it’s all stitched into the fabric of their sacrifices. My husband, my children and my mom, are the wind beneath my wings, who keep me grounded even when my dreams are reaching for the stars – they’re the roots making me stand tall.

Now, let’s talk about that personal fire. It’s the spark in my gut, the voice that whispers, “You’ve got more in you.” I’m on this journey to be a living testament that dreams aren’t confined by where you start. Regardless of your beginning, you can script your own story.

And that touch of defiance? Oh, I’ve had folks tell me what I couldn’t do, more times than I can count. But guess what? I’m here to crush those expectations. I want to be a walking, talking example, especially for women who’ve been counted out. Those who were told, “You can’t, you shouldn’t.” I want them to look at my path and think, “If she can, so can I.”

Graduating from an HBCU has amplified this spirit of resilience, triumph, and community. It’s not just about belonging; it’s about thriving. And yes, I’ve already walked that stage, diploma in hand, but the spirit of HBCUs continues to light my way.

So, my journey? It’s not just about me; it’s about paving a way, especially for women who, like me, were once told they couldn’t. Let’s redefine those limits together and show the world that HBCUs aren’t just schools; they’re launchpads for greatness.

WHAT DO YOU SEE YOURSELF DOING 10 YEARS FROM NOW?

Ten years from now, picture this: I see myself diving headfirst into the world of media and broadcasting, focusing on the incredible stories of couples in business. It’s not just about sharing their successes but delving into the challenges, the victories, and the unique dance of partnership in both love and business.

This leap of faith into the media realm wasn’t just about storytelling; it was about amplifying voices and shedding light on the journeys that often go unnoticed. I believe in the power of shared experiences, and couples navigating the business landscape together have a narrative that’s both captivating and, oftentimes, untold.

But that’s not the end of the story. My vision extends beyond the airwaves. I’m stepping into the legacy-building arena, weaving together my passion for financial empowerment and education. Imagine a financial firm that isn’t just about retirement plans and balance sheets but is a guiding light for families.

In this space, I’m committed to providing not just financial services but a pathway to financial literacy. It’s about empowering families with the knowledge and tools they need to build generational wealth, ensuring that the success they achieve today becomes a legacy for tomorrow.

Why? Because financial freedom isn’t just a goal; it’s a journey. It’s about planting seeds today that will grow into trees of prosperity for generations to come.

This vision is more than a career path; it’s a calling. It’s about making a difference, one story, one family, one legacy at a time. And guess what? I want you to be part of this journey. Reach out, let’s connect, because every story, every journey, is richer when shared.

Join me on this adventure of love, business, and financial empowerment. Let’s build legacies together.
